Our Values

Earth In The Alley Design Studio is a labor of love by long-time floral designer, Caty Smits. Based in Eastpointe, Michigan,  Earth in the Alley creates custom floral designs for weddings and special events all over southern Michigan. We specialize in modern and contemporary design styles, utilizing training and inspiration from some of the best designers all over the Midwest, striving to create quality floral designs at competitive prices. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and mastery of design. We are openly inclusive, proudly supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and happy to personalize your special day regardless of age, gender identity, race or sexual orientation. We are committed to our unwavering support of racial justice, critical race theory and Black Lives Matter. We follow ethical business practices and favor sustainable floral design procedures whenever possible.  

We acknowledge that Earth in the Alley Design Studio occupies the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary Lands of the Ojibwe and Potawatomi people. We recognize, support, and advocate for the sovereignty of Michigan’s twelve federally-recognized Indian nations, for historic Indigenous communities in Michigan, for Indigenous individuals and communities who live here now, and and for those who were forcibly removed from their Homelands.

We recognize that participation in capitalism is incompatible with the survival of life on Earth yet impossible to limit completely in this current social climate. Earth in the alley proudly prioritizes social capital when feasible and condemns the exploitative nature of this economic system.
